What is Recovery?

Recovery from serious mental illness is not only possible, but for many people living with mental illness today, probable. The notion of recovery involves a variety of perspectives.

We offer NAMI Connection Support Groups free of charge via ZOOM and in-person!  Read below for dates and times available.

NAMI Connection is a free, peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by NAMI-trained facilitators who’ve been there. By sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting, you gain hope and develop relationships. The group encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community.  Please read below for dates and times of our Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday support groups.  Registration required for access to the ZOOM meetings.  In person – feel free to just drop in!

 

What:  NAMI Thursday Connections Support Group for adults living with mental health conditions

When: Thursdays – 2:00-3:30 pm (meets in person & via ZOOM)

What:  NAMI Connections for Working Professionals living with mental health conditions

NAMI Connection Support Group will help you:

  • See the individual first, not the illness
  • Recognize that mental illnesses are medical illnesses that may have environmental triggers
  • Understand that mental illnesses are traumatic events
  • Aim for better coping skills
  • Find strength in sharing experiences
  • Reject stigma and not tolerate discrimination
  • Not judge anyone’s pain
  • Forgive ourselves and reject guilt
  • Embrace humor as healthy
  • Accept that we cannot solve every problem
  • Work for a better future in a realistic way
